Maple Syrup

Have a sweet tooth? Try maple syrup, in moderation. It has the lowest amount of fructose of its fellow sweeteners – honey and agave nectar are both high in excess fructose, which can irritate the GI tract and contribute to gas, bloating and diarrhea. Maple syrup also has the lowest acidity so is not hard on the teeth therefore it is a great treat for our kids.  I love to add maple syrup to my morning coffee, saving the local honey for my teas.
