Make Your Own Aromatherapy Bath Salts

Whip up a container of bath salts for yourself or as a terrific Valentine’s Day gift for someone you care about. All of the ingredients can be found at your local health food store.

You’ll need:

  • a package of Epsom salts (found at grocery, drug and health food stores)
  • a bottle of essential oil (try lemongrass, lemon or peppermint as a stimulant, or lavendar for relaxation)
  • coconut or olive oil (coconut oil is lighter; it moisturizes and brightens the skin and has many health benefits)
  • flower petals if you wish to add some

Mix the Epsom salts together in a mixing bowl with a small quantity of coconut oil; just enough to dampen the salts so that they stick together somewhat when you stir them. Add a few drops of the essential oil you’ve chosen, stirring well and testing the strength of the scent as you go. 3-12 drops should suffice depending on the size of your batch. Drop in some flower petals and stir.

Package your bath salts in an attractive container; you can print up your own labels or decorate the jar with a ribbon and gift tag. Inexpensive jars and dishes can be found at the dollar store, or you can even recycle food containers with the help of a little creativity. Enjoy!
