Aromatherapy Spotlight: Bergamot

bergamotBergamot has been used in Italian folk medicine for many years. You may recognize the flavour in Earl Grey tea; it’s a yellow citrus fruit which resembles a small orange.

Bergamot is an antidepressant, with uplifting sedative properties, mostly found in Italy and native to tropical parts of Asia. It’s good for your skin, although you’re cautioned against exposing skin to direct sunlight if you’ve applied bergamot oil – it may increase photosensitivity unless you get a blend that’s had specific constituents removed.

This is a good fragrance to choose if you’re feeling run down. sad, stressed or tired.
