Essential Scents to Wake You Up

Need a perk-me-up in the middle of the afternoon, or before a long drive? Peppermint and cinnamon have been shown (on brain scans) to stimulate and wake up the brain. Try some mint or cinnamon gum, or snack on a peppermint patty.

Rosemary, peppermint and eucalyptus are wake-up scents as well; you can keep a jar of essential oil at home and use it to fragrance your bath or shower.

Cinnamon has the added benefit of helping to regulate your blood sugar, if you consume a tablespoon of it per day (try mixing small amounts into your breakfast cereal or coffee). Peppermint can aid digestion and calm an upset stomach.
