Some Back to School Health Tips

The kids are off to class again so we thought we’d share some tips on health care and self-care for students and parents alike.

  • Make sure your child’s backpack is fitted well and isn’t too heavy – teach your child to use both straps, and encourage him/her to leave extra books and items at school rather than carrying them home.
  • If you or your child are into sports, especially impact sports, it’s a good idea to schedule at least one acupuncture or chiropractic treatment per season, just to stay on top of potential problems.
  • Some sports are not necessarily good for your children’s muscle and bone development. Check with your doctor, or phone Colleen, if you have concerns about a particular sport.
  • Think about regular chiropractic, massage, or acupuncture treatments for yourself too!
  • Don’t let your kids spread you too thin – if you’re exhausted from accommodating all their activities, think about scaling back.
