Getting Quality Sleep

Here are some tips to help you get a better night’s sleep:

  • Stop using electronic gadgets after 6pm – the light from the display can make your brain think it’s still light outside
  • Stop drinking after 6pm. Sip water if you’re thirsty.
  • Turn off the tv by 6pm – your nervous system can’t tell the difference between tv and reality, so suspenseful programming and other tv stressors can keep you up.
  • Take a warm bath with Epsom salts. For best results, use your coffee grinder to bring the salts to a finer grain to release more magnesium (helps with leg cramps).

To help you wake your body up if you feel tired in the mornings:

  • Sniff some peppermint or spearmint oil or chew mint gum.
  • Cinnamon, curry or ginger can also wake your brain up (try adding a little ground ginger to hot water to make a tea).
